Built-in medical cover
Your medical needs shouldn’t stop you from exploring the world. If you have pre-existing conditions – like asthma, diabetes or high blood pressure – we can normally include them in your travel insurance.
When you get a quote, you’ll complete a short medical questionnaire so we can tailor your cover.
With Staysure, you’ll get:
- emergency medical and repatriation cover included as standard
- 24/7 medical emergency helpline, wherever you are in the world
- A discount on medical loading costs if you have private medical insurance with coverage when abroad of a minimum of €55.000
Even if you already have private medical insurance, it won’t cover trip cancellation, travel delay, missed departures or lost, stolen or damaged baggage. That’s where we step in.

Planning more than one trip?
There are two main types of travel insurance to choose from:
Single trip travel insurance
Provides cover for one holiday – including cancellation, medical emergencies, and lost belongings.
Annual multi-trip travel insurance
Covers multiple trips over 12 months under one policy – with the same benefits each time you travel.

Tailor your cover to your holiday plans
Travel in your 50s can include a mix of city breaks, longer escapes and even cruises. You can shape your policy to fit the kind of trips you’re planning:
- Cruise cover – choose this when buying your policy for protection against missed ports, cabin confinement, itinerary changes and medical treatment at sea or in port.
- Winter sports cover – included automatically with Comprehensive annual policies (limited to 2 trips and up to 21 days combined) or available on single trip cover if you’re aged 70 or under.
- Excess waiver – remove the standard policy excess so you won’t pay towards approved claims.
- Single item cover – increase protection for high-value belongings up to €1,000 per item.
- 100-day upgrade – extend one Comprehensive trip from 50 days to 100 days (for travellers aged 70 or under).
When should I buy my over 50s travel insurance?
It’s best to take out travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday. Your cover starts straight away – so if something unexpected happens before you travel, such as illness, injury or a family emergency, you can claim for cancellation costs.
Booking early also means you won’t have to think about arranging cover closer to your departure date. From the day you book until the day you return home, your trip is protected.
Booking a cruise? You can add cruise cover up to 18 months in advance. Just make sure it’s included if you choose an annual policy.
