Travelling with a medical condition?

We cover most pre-existing medical conditions – even for older travellers or those with complex health needs – so you can explore with confidence. From asthma and diabetes to heart conditions and high blood pressure, we’re here to help you travel safely.

When you get a quote, you’ll complete a short medical questionnaire so we can tailor your cover to your needs.

  • Medical and repatriation protection included as standard.
  • 24/7 medical emergency helpline, wherever you are in the world.
  • Fast access to approved care abroad, with direct billing to hospitals where possible.

Even if you have a GHIC or EHIC, these only cover limited state healthcare and won’t pay for private treatment or getting you home – that’s where we step in.

Types of over 50s & seniors expat travel insurance

At Staysure, we know that no two trips – or travellers – are the same. That’s why our over 50s travel insurance for expats comes in two main types, so you can choose the cover that suits your lifestyle:

Single trip travel insurance

Perfect if you’re planning one holiday or a special trip. Our single trip expat cover includes protection for cancellations, emergency medical expenses, repatriation to your country of residence, lost baggage, and more. You can travel for up to 104 days on a single trip, with high medical cover limits available.

Annual multi-trip travel insurance

If you travel often – for holidays, cruises, or visits to family – annual multi-trip cover gives you the same great benefits every time you travel within a 12-month period. You can take multiple trips and be covered for up to 183 days abroad in total. So whether you’re over 60, over 70, or even over 80, you can travel with complete peace of mind.

Tailor your cover with optional extras

Every trip is different, so you can add optional extras to make your policy fit your plans:

  • Cruise cover – protection for missed ports, cabin confinement, and cruise-specific medical emergencies.
  • Winter sports cover – includes protection for unexpected medical costs, lost or damaged ski equipment, unused passes, piste closures and avalanches. Available for single trip travellers aged 70 and under, and included as standard with Comprehensive annual policies (limited to 2 trips per year with a combined maximum of 21 days).*
  • Excess waiver – pay no excess if you need to claim, per item you’re claiming for. This add-on can’t be added retrospectively.*
  • Single item cover – increase high-value baggage cover up to €1,000 (standard personal baggage cover is €450 per item). You’ll need to describe the item, and this add-on can’t be added retrospectively.*
  • 100-day upgrade – extend a 50-day trip to 100 days for one trip (ages 70 and under, Comprehensive policies only).

*Available on Comprehensive policies only.

Get cover from the moment you book

If you buy your over 50s policy as soon as you book your trip, you’ll be protected right away for:

  • cancelling or cutting your trip short
  • emergency medical care with 24/7 support
  • travel delays and disruption
  • lost, damaged or delayed baggage
  • stolen or lost cash
